Children of the future
Nowadays our young ones are increasingly starting at an early age to do things that we ourselves started doing at a much older age.
It may be in a child's best interest to gain as much experience as possible early on in life. This pertains also to financial matters. It is in this context that we at BANCO DI CARIBE have developed an account especially for student, so that they may gain experience in handling financial matters while building self-confidence.
Our special students account is an all-in-one account. It provides the basic bank transactions, including transfers, insurance coverage, and credit card benefits, at special rates (some conditions apply).
Student account
The student account is designed for students who are enrolled at National or International institutions for higher learning (i.e. college level).
The student account offers the following:
| - | Students who save a minimum of the equivalent of Fls 25,00 from their study allowance, will earn a special interest rate of 3.25 % p.a. on their savings. The study allowance must be paid to a current account with the bank. One monthly withdrawal is permitted from the savings account, |
| - | The students can make local transfers free of charge, |
| - | Students who opt for insurance coverage will get a 10% discount on the insurance premium through our insurance department. Applicable insurance coverage: Personal Accident, Personal Liability, Medical, Travel, and Term insurance, |
| - | Students can apply for their Banco di Caribe Credit Card and receive a 30% discount on the annual membership (special conditions apply). |
| - | Students may be eligible for a personal loan. Parents must supervise and guarantee the loan. Loans towards the purchase of study books or a computer are assigned a special rate: 7%. |
Credit Cards
If you're studying in a foreign country it is advisable to have a credit card, not only for payment convenience but also for emergency situations. A credit card can also be used to withdraw cash from local and international ATM's.
In general, the peace of mind that a parent gets from a student carrying a credit card far outweighs its costs.
By using it wisely you will learn how to manage your finances. The bank offers two types of credit cards to students: the Classic Visa Card or the MasterCard.
If you are a student under the age of 18, and wish to have a credit card, you can ask your parents to apply for a Banco di Caribe credit card and make you a co-applicant (card holder).
For more information on how to qualify for your credit card, e-mail us at info@bancodicaribe.com or contact our Credit Card department.
Debit cards
Banco di Caribe's SuperCard offers the student through the networks of CashNet and Cirrus Maestro both national as well as international access to affiliated ATMs and merchants around the world. Funds must be deposited on the student's savings- or current account for the student to have access to it. A joined account with a parent may also be opened. For more information about our SuperCard e-mail us at info@bancodicaribe.com or contact the Customer Information Center (CIC).
Insurance
Students studying abroad and foreign ones studying locally should have the basic insurance coverage such as medical, personal liability, accident insurance, and travel insurance. The bank's insurance department acts as a broker for many local and International insurance firms and provides a wide array of client services. Depending on your individual needs and where you study our experienced staff can help you select that insurance which best suits you.
